EUROPE
ILA Hanover 2008
This year's ILA will take place from 27 May to 1 June 2008 on the southern section of Berlin-Schönefeld Airport, which has been designated as the future Berlin Brandenburg International Airport (BBI) [Wikipedia]

60th Anniversary of the Berliner Airlift
ILA2008 commemorates the largest humanitarian air operation of all time.
Few events in German history are of such a strong symbolic significance as the Berlin Airlift. The year 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of an event that was unique in terms of international politics and airmanship, and also as a humanitarian undertaking. ILA Berlin Air Show 2008 will devote an entire display area to this remarkable feat of logistics which remains the largest humanitarian air transport operation of all time. [More...]

One of the highlights of each day will be the engine runs of the DC-6B G-APSA and Shackleton WR963 @ 13.00 hours on each Open Day. On the winter Open Day, there will be a second engine run @ 16.00 hours under arc lights.
Please be aware that DC-6 G-APSA will retain both its KLM colour scheme and its Dutch registration of PH-TGA throughout the coming season and adds an extra incentive to see this classic propliner in its unique colour scheme. Note also that G-ANAF now sports a fantastic new colour scheme that needs to be seen to be believed.

Please also be aware that the Shackleton does engine runs every Thursday at 13.00 hours - all are welcome to attend. It is also my intention to run small escorted photography tours of the grass area and apron, which will need to be reserved in advance. There will no charge for this facility.
So please support ClassicFlight at Air Atlantic as they continue to provide a unique opportunity to get close up and personnel with Classic Propliners. Quote "Reference C-P" when booking.

NORTH AMERICA
Langley, British Columbia 28 June 2008

"The Canadian Museum of Flight (CMF) is planning a themed fly-in this summer, 28Jun08, called the "Round Engine Round Up." We are hoping to attract as many round engined airplanes and vintage aircraft as possible to our home-airport here in Langley (CYNJ). The reason behind this fly-in is to mark the 30th anniversary of the Canadian Museum of Flight, and the 70th anniversary of the home of the CMF, the Langley Municipal Airport.

It is still in the early stages of planning, but I can tell you that it's going to be a casual, yet fun affair. We hope to hold the kind of old time event that made aviation fun, and exciting. I will fill you all in with more information as it becomes available. So, if there's anyone out there that owns a military or civilian airplane that has a "proper" engine on the front of it, and if you feel like making a trip up to the Vancouver area this summer, then you're invited to the Canadian Museum of Flight's "Round Engine Round up: 2008."

Note: Langley Airport's longest runway is 2100' in length. Hopefully that'll be long enough for most of you, but it does means we must say NO to all of you wanting to bring your B-17's and B-24's. Sorry, Maybe next time guys."
