Istanbul Airlines (Istanbul Hava Yollari, A..S. dba) was founded in 1985 and was ahead of the pack of Turkish start ups, which started their operations mostly during the 1990s. Boeing 727-230(A) TC-AFT (cn21618/1404) is seen here at a gate of Amsterdam Int'l Airport Schiphol (SPL) one summer evening in 1994.
It operated various Boeing types: 727, 737, 757s and operated in the European theatre.
Istanbul Airlines ceased operations in August 2000, allegedly some usd 200 million in debt.
